HILLSBORO, OR, U.S. – April 28, 2015: Radisys® Corporation (NASDAQ: RSYS), the services acceleration company, today announced that Metaswitch Networks, the world’s leading network software provider, has embraced Radisys’ virtualized Media Resource Function (vMRF) to power its cloud-based IMS solution.

Radisys’ vMRF, pre-integrated with OpenCloud’s Rhino Telecom Application Server, is being resold by Metaswitch as part of its Clearwater IMS solution that helps service providers accelerate the transformation of their network and communication services. For the first time, mobile operators are able to deploy a virtualized IMS which delivers rapid time-to-market, compelling economics and a common media processing platform that can power both legacy telephony services as well as new media rich communication services.

“Mobile operators are embracing IMS as the foundation of their LTE networks so they can be flexible enough to provide a complete portfolio of immersive IP-based multimedia communications services,” said Paul Drew, senior vice president, Metaswitch Networks. “As Metaswitch helps its customers continue down a path towards a software-centric, cloud-based, all-IP future, we are pleased to work with Radisys as they share our overall vision and have been a leading provider of IP Media Processing and MRF products for more than 10 years.”

“In an ever-more competitive telecom market, cost-effective and agile differentiation of services is key,” said Jonathan Bell, vice president marketing at OpenCloud. “The open nature of OpenCloud’s products helps operators create and sustain competitive advantage, and those gains are magnified when deployed through virtualized service-layer infrastructure. We are pleased to be working with Metaswitch and Radisys to provide adaptable, cloud-based solutions that deliver the benefits of effective network transformation and service differentiation to our customers.”

“The shift to all-IP networks made possible by IMS is enabling communication service providers to become more software-centric, rethinking not only their network architecture, but also how they deliver profitable, differentiated services to their customers,” said Grant Henderson, vice president, MediaEngine and corporate marketing, Radisys. “We’re pleased that Metaswitch has put its trust in Radisys and our virtualized MRF and we are excited to work with both Metaswitch and OpenCloud to enable service providers to deliver new levels of innovation and differentiation. This is another validation point for our truly open, OneMRF strategy where service providers can deploy a single media processing platform to support a plethora of legacy and multimedia services from multiple application providers.”
