www.radisys.com RADISYS SOLUTION BRIEF | Integrated Speech Recognition Solution The Growth of Speech Enabled Applications and Services As smartphones and other apps revolutionize the lives of people, users are increasingly interacting with applications and devices using speech as the interface. Today, 39 million Americans own a smart speaker — a 128 percent growth from a year ago. Most of these are currently being used in consumer applications, often to control streamed music, answer general questions — such as weather and traffic, sports scores and control other smart home devices. However, by leveraging machine learning, the technology continues to become more accurate. Developers are creating innovative new use cases both in consumer and enterprise segments. Essential to continued growth in the utility of the technology are the quality of experience, media optimization, and streamlining of the user interfaces. These are pivotal for both — the users of mission critical vertical market applications such as healthcare, law enforcement, senior living care, automotive, translation, and other similar services; as well as for more commonplace mass market consumer applications. As voice-enabled and speech interaction applications like Siri, Cortana, Alexa and Google Assistant, take center-stage, Communication Service Providers (CSPs) are looking to adding these capabilities to their networks as well.
