In Good Company: Radisys Advances Open Broadband by Joining Industry Organizations

August 27, 2020 Natasha Tamaskar

One thing that we can all agree on is that demand for high-speed broadband services is insatiable. We rely on the Internet for work, school, socialization, and entertainment and our usage is creating massive strain on existing broadband service providers’ networks. To meet ongoing demand while managing costs, these service providers need to rethink their network design. The broadband networks of the future will need to be able scale efficiently, deliver optimum performance, and allow for rapid introduction of new services that are competitive with offerings from OTT providers.

To successfully compete and meet the exploding demands for high-speed Internet, broadband services providers need the flexibility of open and disaggregated networks where they can mix and match network elements that best meet their requirements.

Earlier this year, we introduced Connect Open Broadband – our open, disaggregated software-defined broadband access solution that can supercharge fiber broadband services and support fiber rollouts of all sizes. And to continue to advance open industry solutions, we have joined the Fiber Broadband Association and the Fiber To The Home Council Europe.

Member Fiber Broadband AssociationRadisys joined the Fiber Broadband Association to work with its members to advance its mission to accelerate deployment of all-fiber access networks by demonstrating how fiber-enabled applications and solutions create value for service providers and their customers, promote economic development, and enhance quality of life. Within the association, we are working specifically on FTTH initiatives that are focused on open network design and are PON access agnostic. Solutions – like our Connect Open Broadband – that are open and disaggregated enable OLT vendor neutrality and deployment flexibility. The Fiber Broadband Association is focused on markets in the Americas.

Fibre to the Home Council Europe logoThe Fiber To The Home Council Europe’s mission is to accelerate ubiquitous fiber-based connectivity empowering a leading Digital Society throughout Europe. Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) is an access network method that delivers the highest performance network that can support a wide range of new services such as telehealth, video communications, virtual reality and augmented reality, and more. Radisys is committed to delivering access network agnostic solutions – GPON, XGS-PON, and NG-PON2) – that offer flexible deployment options.

Radisys has already taken active leadership roles in several industry organizations including the Open Network Foundation, the Linux Foundation, CBRS Alliance, O-RAN Alliance, Telecom Infra Project, the Small Cell Forum, and the Open RAN Policy Coalition. By joining the Fiber Broadband Association and Fiber To The Home Council Europe, we are continuing our “Open Radisys” journey to enabling service providers to transform their networks.

I encourage you to learn more about our Open Broadband solutions, and to contact sales@radisys.com for more information. Stay safe.
