Everyone at Radisys was pleased last week to learn that our DCEngine has been shortlisted for the prestigious LTE & 5G Awards 2016 in the "Best NFV/SDN Solution" category. This award is judged by some of the top analysts and industry experts in the world. At Radisys, we’re excited about the innovation that our DCEngine brings to this space as service providers look evolve their LTE networks and bridge the gap to 5G network capabilities.

The road to 5G is being paved by vendors such as Radisys that are embracing the open source movement and software-based networking architectures. Right now, the service provider market is in the early stages of a massive shift in how networks are built. This shift is driven by service providers hungry for innovation by disaggregating their infrastructure into commoditized hardware, SDN enabled switching and open source software.

We designed DCEngine to optimize and accelerate the network transformation. DCEngine utilizes the principles of highly efficient Open Compute Project (OCP) architectures and integrates fully supported open source software. The DCEngine framework transforms service provider central offices into SDN-enabled virtualized data centers. It provides a multi-rack level network functions virtualization (NFVi) and container-based infrastructure platform for hosting thousands of virtualized network functions and applications under open SDN control.

We are humbled to be chosen as a finalist along with the distinguished company in our award category and we look forward to the awards gala taking place in London on June 29 in conjunction with the 5G World Conference. I encourage you to keep an eye on DCEngine and invite you to learn more about this new hyperscale data center infrastructure solution here.
