Living the Suite Life: Radisys’ MobilityEngine™ 5G Software Suite Wins Mobile Breakthrough Award for Fixed Wireless Solution of the Year

By Natasha Tamaskar

I’m pleased to share that our MobilityEngine™ 5G Software Suite with 5GNR Solution for Fixed Wireless Access has been recognized as the Fixed Wireless Solution of the Year by the Mobile Breakthrough Awards. The mission of these awards is to honor excellence, innovation and hard work from among mobile and wireless technologies. The MobilityEngine 5G Software Suite joins the list of esteemed winners for the 2019 awards.

According to James Johnson, managing director for Mobile Breakthrough, “As Service Providers accelerate the move to 5G, there is a growing need for a software platform that enables mobile carriers, equipment manufacturers, and test and measurement solution providers to design, develop, and validate 5G networks and services. Radisys 5G Software Suite fulfills this need, providing a seamless migration path from LTE/LTE-A and multi-access mobile and fixed wireless. We extend a hearty congratulations to the entire Radisys team on their well-deserved industry recognition with this 2019 Mobile Breakthrough Award designation.”

MobilityEngine includes Integrated Access and Backhaul (IAB), a 3GPP Release 16 feature, a key use case for migrating Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) Market to 5G Capabilities. MobilityEngine supports the 28 GHz mmWave band to provide FWA to suburban residential homes where the access points (APs) are deployed on utility poles. The access-integrated backhaul shares the radio resources with the FWA while the remaining APs are backhauled wirelessly by using IAB, freeing a substantial amount of resources especially when multi-hop backhaul is considered.

We are currently trialing the software suite with a Tier 1 Service Provider in North America. To learn more about Radisys’ award-winning MobilityEngine 5G Software Suite, read our solution brief.
