Telecom Italia Building vRAN Tech, but Not With Ericsson

Telecom Italia has turned away from Ericsson and teamed up with four smaller companies on the development of a new mobile network technology it hopes may dramatically reduce the cost of building a 5G network after Italy's recent spectrum auction left it with a €2.4 billion ($2.8 billion) bill.
