I’m pleased to share that our Trillium TOTALeNodeB 2.0 LTE small cell software solution has won the 2014 Mobility Tech Zone LTE Visionary Award.
Small cells play a critical role in enabling mobile operators to add bandwidth and coverage to their networks, and mobile operators are increasingly turning to LTE-TDD small cell technology to alleviate network strain driven by mobile video and the pervasiveness of tablets and smart phones. China Mobile (CMCC), Softbank Mobile, Sprint and Reliance Jio have all announced plans to deploy LTE-TDD in 2014.
For our latest TOTALeNodeB release we’ve added support for LTE-TDD to meet this demand. The solution provides a cost effective approach for operators to add capacity to congest areas and make more efficient use of their available spectrum, a significant advantage as acquiring new spectrum is expensive. We’ve already seen significant traction for TOTALeNodeB 2.0. Z-Com has selected it to support its LTE-TDD network deployment in China and NEC will be leveraging the small cell software for its Femto/Pico/Microcell network.
Product Description: Radisys’ TOTALeNodeB is a complete software solution that dramatically simplifies the development and integration of LTE small cells, while cutting the typical product development time in half. TOTALeNodeB builds upon the award-winning Trillium LTE protocol stacks, leveraging Radisys’ leading expertise in LTE technology solutions. It enables customers to leverage one software solution that can support all small cell deployments, from residential cells that support up to eight users to Pico cells that support 100+ users. This scalability enables rapid deployment.
Radisys was first to market with LTE-TDD software stacks, and TOTALeNodeB provides a comprehensive LTE-TDD and field-proven FDD solution, delivering an LTE solution that readily scales from small to large deployments. Radisys’ TOTALeNodeB 2.0 small cell software will be implemented on Broadcom Corporation’s 617xx Series dual mode system-on-chip (SoC) solutions. The pre-integrated and performance verified small cell solution enables mobile operators to shorten time-to-market. It delivers low-power, high-performance LTE small cells for enterprise, residential and public access markets.
TOTALeNodeB 2.0 still maintains key LTE functionality such as comprehensive radio resource management (RRM) and Self-Organizing Networks (SON) capability. In addition, when it is deployed in an LTE network where GSM already exists, mobile operators can leverage a fallback model to leverage 3G for voice service and LTE for data. TOTALeNodeB enables handoffs between the networks, allowing operators to leverage their existing infrastructure.
